Daily UI Challenge (ongoing)

2 hours, 1 screen. Random industry, random screen (sign-up page, landing page, cashout, profile …).

Constraints? 2 random UX Theories, 1 random Psychological Concept and 1 random Interaction Principle to include into the screen. No use of plugins authorized. Only Figma skills.

Context

I realized I had always designed for sports and health related industries, and always the same kind of screens.

I wanted to complete my UI designer skills.

Execution of the challenge

#how-random?

In my previous professional experience, I have been gifted the Laws of UX deck of cards written by Jon Yablonski. I decided to use it to improve my UI skills.

I attributed each card a number and then asked Chat GPT to give me random numbers. That would give me: 2 UX theories, 1 psychological concept and 1 interaction principle.

I also asked Chat GPT to give me an industry, 2 colors codes and two fonts to work with.

I subscribed to Daily UI newsletter and would receive one screen to design per day.

#what-execution?

Once I had drawn all my constraints for the day, I would set the timer, and there we go!

2 hours to ideate, iterate and deliver said-screen with all the random constraints.

I forced myself to design eveyrthing and to not use plugins. So all the icons, CTA, and other UI elements where designed by myself.

Next steps

#how-long?

This is still an ongoing project, and I do it when I can dedicate 2 hours of my time to it, which is not everyday.

I plan on doing it for 30 screens (so 30 days) and maybe start again later on.
