Case Study - Letterboxd

I was frustrated with the Letterboxd user experience. So I decided to work on the most significant point of friction (in my opinion) and turn it into a case study.

Let's take a look at how to reinforce the user's sense of accomplishment when a movie is added to their diary.

Context

#Value-Proposition-Letterboxd

Letterboxd is a mobile app that describes itself as “a global social network dedicated to discussing and discovering movies.” This mobile app allows users to rate and share their opinions on movies they have seen, or simply keep track of them in a diary.

#Letterboxd-actual-state

In summary:

- Entry points are too discreet

- Screens are difficult to understand for non-movie afficionados

- The brand image could benefit from more exposure and affirmation

En résumé:

- Des entry points trop discrets

- Des écrans compliqués à comprendre pour les non-cinéphiles

- Une image de marque qui gagnerait à être poussée

NB:
There is a behavior issue in the “Dropdown” component of my prototype. I don't understand where this issue is coming from. Any feedback and/or help is welcome!
